**Lifetime Furniture, established in 1911, originated from the merger of Grand Rapids Bookcase Co. and Barker Brothers Chair Co. Addison A. Barber founded the Grand Rapids Bookcase Co. in 1901 and later formed Barber & Shank Co. in 1902. The Barber Brothers Chair Co. was created in 1903, specializing in Mission-style furniture designed by E.E. Dryden. In 1910, Barber brothers' products were marketed as "Lifetime Furniture." The merged company operated until 1956, eventually becoming part of the Hastings Corporation before closing in 1975. It is renowned for its "Lifetime Cloister" Mission-style furniture.**
