Sold by Next Chapter Co. Estate Sales
$35.00
This Print was purchased in Edinburgh at Carson Clark Gallery and is certified as a hand colored print from 1818.
This print was published by J. and H. S. Storer in December 1818 as part of their "Views in Edinburgh" series.
The bridge spans the deep ravine of the Low Calton and connects Princes Street to Waterloo Place.
Construction of the bridge began in 1815 and was completed in 1819 to improve access to the city's New Town.
The scene highlights the dramatic scale of the neoclassical arch in contrast to the surrounding urban landscape of the time.
