Carley Craig got her start as a free-lance sketch artist in California under the name Tedi Berri. After a 25 year career as a fashion designer for multiple Hollywood studios including Paramount, MGM, Warner Brothers, and Universal, Craig started her own line of children’s apparel and then ran a custom dress shop before moving to Georgia. It was here that she started her painting career and began using mixed media to create fascinatingly unique art under her legal name: Carley Craig. After 18 years Craig shifted focus again, this time to sculpture, which she enjoyed for the next 25 years. She continued to work well into her 70’s.

This piece, entitled "It's a Glad Day..." is beautiful proof of the human ability to recognize the shape of a person no matter how interpretively it is displayed. As indicated by the address label on the back, this colorful scene was created during Craig's years in Georgia, most likely between the years 1950 and 1967. Due to the age of the item, there are a few small nicks in the edge of the backing (please see photo #6), but they in no way diminish the beauty and quality of this entrancing piece of art.
