Large Signed Elizabeth Keller-Attributed Studio Art Pottery Lizard Vessel – 17" x 15"
Sold by J Love Gallery
$300.00 $600.00 (50% off)
Exceptional large-scale handmade studio pottery vessel featuring a dramatic sculpted lizard or iguana stretched across the top of an organically formed reddish-brown earthenware body.
This substantial sculptural vessel measures approximately 17" wide × 15" high and displays extensive hand-worked surface texture, incised detailing, irregular organic contours, and a large asymmetrical opening. The individually modeled reptile is particularly impressive, with detailed legs, feet, head, body, and sweeping tail incorporated directly into the vessel.
The piece is artist-signed/incised near the lower edge. The signature appears to read “Elizabeth Keller.” Research has identified noted American ceramic artist and educator Elizabeth F. Keller, known for narrative ceramic sculpture and highly tactile sculptural vessels; however, we have not independently authenticated this work as hers and are therefore offering the attribution based upon the visible signature.
A very unusual statement-size piece of studio ceramic art with strong Southwestern, organic, and contemporary sculptural appeal. Displays exceptionally well and is far more substantial in person than typical decorative pottery.
Approximate size: 17" W × 15" H.
Condition: Good estate condition with the intentional irregularities, surface texture, firing characteristics, tool marks, and handmade variations associated with the artist's construction technique. Please review all photographs closely for exact condition.
