This is a late 19th or early 20th-century platform rocking chair constructed from quarter-sawn oak, characterized by its prominent wood grain patterns. The chair features a high, crest-rail back with carved foliate details and a central upholstered panel. The arms are gently curved, and the frame exhibits classic spindle-back or panel-back construction typical of the American Victorian or Edwardian periods. It has been recently reupholstered in a neutral, textured off-white fabric, which contrasts with the warm, medium-toned oak finish. The base is a platform rocker, distinguishing it from standard rocking chairs. The dimensions are 29.5in deep, 25in wide, and 39in tall, with a seat height of 16in.
