While Picasso originally sketched variations of this subject earlier in his career, this particular large-format commercial run was heavily printed and distributed in the late 1960s and 1970s. Unlike standard paper prints, it is prized for being printed directly in white ink on a thick, heavily textured matte black stock paper.
