Stunning Vintage Heavy Fluted 13"x 15" Fine Art Glass Vase w/ Signature Murano Murrine Designs
Sold by Connecticut Art And Estate Sales
This is a beautiful very high quality collector level antique or vintage work. Although this piece is not signed and does not have specific Murano markings (which is true of a large percentage of Murano pieces), it does have most of the trappings that you would find with Murano originated glass. Of particular importance, as shown in the photos, are the small multi-colored disc designs used in Murano glass called murrine (singular: murrina).
The overall style or technique featuring these flower-like patterns is widely known as millefiori that means "a thousand flowers" in Italian, a decorative technique where artisans arrange and fuse these tiny murrine together into sheets or patterns to create vases, bowls, and jewelry.
No asurance can be given as to the actual origination of the work and buyers should rely on their own research in making such a determination.
