It takes a careful examination of the print to discover what is happening. You will find a young female with a huge daffodil in her hair leaning over a rock at the water's edge. She is being watched by a dragonfly and a salamander acting like people. The print is hand-colored and probably dates from the 1840s. Beneath the image appear "Daffodil" and "Narcissus" as well as publisher name of R. Martin of New York. Paper is approximately 9"h x 6"w, in triple mats in red/white/green with goldtone hand-striping, in mid 20th century molded goldtone frame, 20"h x 17"w.
