This is one of the very typical standing young female bronze statues made by the French sculptor, August Moreau (1834-1917). This one is holding up the edge of her dress as well as flowers, her body easily discerned from the shoulderless dress and its sleekness over her torso and legs. The statue is 26-1/2"h x 11-1/2"w, attached to a burgundy-color marble base. The round disk in back authenticates this as a period piece and NOT a reproduction. The bottom back of the casting is very clearly incised "Moreau" and "FRANCE". The statue appears to have no scrapes or blemishes and retains its original patination.
