Ended Sculpture, bronze, original, Auguste Moreau

This is an authentic period bronze sculpture casting by the French artist, Auguste Moreau. It is marked "Aug Moreau" on the right side of the lower portion and very importantly bears the small roundel stating "Fabrication Francaise / Paris / Made in France" just above the incised large lettering "FRANCE" in back. This is one of several scantily clad "young maidens" made by Moreau. This one shows a young female with her head turned slightly left and looking slightly downward, holding flowers in her raised left hand as well a the bottom edge of her garment. It is patinated, including a slight green in the garment to provide color contrast and emphasis on the lighter colored body. The casting is 24" high, over a brass ring over an ox blood-color round base, making the entirety 26-1/2" high. It is in fine condition.
