For all those who have an interest in the American War Between the States, genealogy, and even in cemeteries and the stories they tell, Captains at Rest is a book not to be missed. It is a moving record of the 77 Confederate officers who served in the 12 Georgia Infantry Regiment, under the commands of General Stonewall Jackson and General Robert E. Lee, and provides a listing of each officer's pre-war, wartime, and post-war accomplishments. Photographs and family biographies add interest to the stories of these officers from the ten companies that made up the 12th Georgia. Some of these men did not survive the war, dying either on the battlefield in glory, or from disease that might have been prevented had they been properly clothed and fed. Their stories are the stories of soldiers everywhere who marched into battle for a cause they believe in. L. Harris Churchwell's research into the lives and careers of these officers, as well as the records of their family connections and post-war accomplishments are a significant addition to the vast store of knowledge about our nation's greatest conflict.
Pickup DetailsIMPORTANT: Furniture must be picked up after 1pm. It cannot be picked up before 1pm.
Pickup will be Saturday May 28th 10-3pm. This is the only pickup day. Alternate dates can be arranged for a nominal fee.
Home is located off of Macon Road in Columbus, Ga. Address will be provided after the auction closes.
IMPORTANT: Please bring help in loading larger items and bring packaging material with you to pack fragile items. Please bring your pickup code for each item won.
Seller only accepts major credit cards.
If the reserve is not met, please contact us. We may be able to sell the pieces outright for a lower price.
