You are bidding on a very fine piece of hand carved antique raw marble. The piece is a round plaque of what we think is an Italian Saint. There are no artist markings on the piece but it has been verified that this plaque was made in Italy during the period 1540 to 1570 (16th Century). This carving is of a Saint, possibly one of Pope Pius' saints. This plaque measures approximately 6 inches in diameter and approximately 1 inch thick. Based on verified documentation, this plaque was purchased from a Christie's London auction in 1978. It is a beautiful piece and I have never had the pleasure of selling such an item for an estate. This piece is an original and possibly one of a kind and in very good condition.
