1966 Vivian Burtchby Oil on Canvas "Beautiful Dreamer": A 1966 oil painting on canvas by listed artist Vivian Birtchby (1911-1976). Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Persian Arak Area Rug: A semi-antique Persian Arak area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in an abrashed palette of deep cranberry, sapphire, cream, and black. It features a Sarouk-style design beginning with a small, central eight-point star with palmette pendants extending in four directions, the cranberry-colored field populated with garlands of leaves and stylized sprays of flowers amid palmettes, tiny trees of life, and incidental florals and foliage. Framing the field are six borders. These include a primary floral border over black flanked by mirrored boteh guard borders over cream and mirrored meandering carnation borders over sapphire. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with tan wool warp fringe. Unlabeled.
