Lot # 62 German WWI Aviator Aerial Kill Honor Goblet Imperial German World War I Aviator Aerial Kill Presentation Engraved Honor Goblet. This silver goblet was awarded to a pilot named 'Ernest Freiherr von Althaus' after achieving his first aerial kill, and is hand engraved to him in Memorium. He was an ace and a Pour Le Merite Blue Max Winner during WWI. The front shows two flying eagles attacking each other. This piece is hand engraved on the back side with all nine of his confirmed aerial kills. It lists the date of the kill, and the type of airplane that he shot down. Measures 7 13/16" tall by 3 13/16" in diameter. The base reads 'Luftkampfr - Dem - Siegerim'. It is marked around the base with a half-moon; King's crown; 800 (Silver content); eagle. The bottom reads “Chef des Feldflugwesens” with an eagle in the center. The goblet is solid hand hammered silver. The interior of the cup portion is gold plated. Includes A brown leatherette carrying case with a brown velvet interior.
