Marketing Your Online Estate Sale

Now that you've listed your online estate sale, it's time to let everyone know you have a sale! Your sale will appear in the upcoming estate sales on EstateSales.NET city pages, emails, and in the app. But there are a few other things you can do to help promote your online estate sales.

1. Share your sale on Facebook

As soon as you've published your online estate sale, click the share buttons to share your sale to Facebook and Twitter.

Hint: Make sure your Facebook business page has all the correct information before sharing your online estate sale.

2. Share items on Instagram

You can't share your sale on Instagram like you can on Facebook. But you can share pictures of individual items for your followers to let them know you have an upcoming online estate sale. Paste the link in your bio.

Hint: Links in the description of your Instagram photos are not clickable. Always provide the direct link your bio to DM (direct message) anyone interested. To do this, you'll need a professional account on Instagram.

If you'd like to share more than one photo with your followers, it's best to share them in a series in one post, rather than sharing individual photos in individual posts on the same day. If you'd like to share individual photos, we recommend sharing them on separate days.

3. Feature individual items on social media

Leading up to your sale and as your sale goes on, feature individual items daily on your social media channels. Tell your followers about the item and that the item is available. Take some special pictures of those items to highlight its features. Add the sale's direct link to the post (Facebook and Twitter) and in your bio on Instagram.

Hint: Add the link to your post last on Facebook. Otherwise, Facebook may pull the first image of your sale as the preview of the link instead of showing the pictures you're sharing.

4. Share items in your stories

Another great place to highlight individual items and to let your followers know you're having an online estate sale is in your Facebook and Instagram stories. As you may know, these stories will appear for only 24 hours before they disappear. This feature allows you to share multiple photos and videos without overwhelming your followers. They appear in a slideshow format and you can add captions, stickers, gifs, polls, etc. to increase engagement with your followers. This could be a great opportunity to show more details of items by sharing a quick video.

5. Share to your personal social media pages

Online estate sales are new so it's best to get the word out anywhere and everywhere you can. Let your friends and family know that you are still having sales and ask them to help you let others know by sharing your posts. These are probably some of your biggest fans who will likely jump at the chance to support you and your business.

It's important to consistently share information about your upcoming or ongoing online estate sale without overwhelming your followers. Sharing an item, a link to your sale, a video, etc. once a day on Facebook and Instagram (excluding stories) it's a great way to remind your audience you're having a sale without overrunning their feeds.
