Ended Small Hand Made Woven Oak Wood Splint & Reed Primitive Basket with Lid

This is a small rustic oak wood splint and reed covered basket. The basket has a splint oak structure then interwoven reeds reinforce the basket. The basket is sturdy and well made. Not only is the basket functional is it attractive. Notice how the reeds alternate between brown and tan to provide contrast. The basket is finely weaved with thin reeds. The basket dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The basket is in good vintage condition and the wood has a wonderful patina.
