These iconic pieces of furniture are Mid-Century Modern two-tier "step" end tables, manufactured (as imprinted on the table), by Lane Furniture (Altavista, VA) in the 1950s or early 1960s. Specifically, they match the design of Lane’s model No.1021-07, known for its sculptural walnut frame and durable laminate tops that mimic rich wood grain.
The tables feature a Two-Tier "Step" Design with a classic MCM silhouette that provides separate surfaces for a table lamp on the upper "step" and everyday items on the lower tier.
The design of the chairs are enhanced by a sculptural frame that has elegantly curved "winged" supports for the top tier and Lane's signature tapered "dog-leg" legs that exemplify post-war American modernism.
While the frame is solid wood (walnut or birch), the tabletops are finished in a high-quality Formica or laminate, making them resistant to water rings and heat.
