1915 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate The Chained Dog Getting a Double Meal on Christmas Eve by Dahl Jensen, 7", no box or certificate, indent and glazing ring on back.

On this plate is shown a dog, chained to his dog house, watching the home of his master on Christmas Eve. He can see the Christmas tree though the window and has probably sensed the excitement of the season, especially from the children. The family has not forgotten their friend for in the bowl beside him is a double ration of food. It is an old Scandinavian custom that all pets, as well as the farm animals, get double rations on Christmas Eve. It will soon be illegal in Denmark to keep a dog chained as shown, even if it is treated well by the family.
