1926 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate Churchgoers on Christmas Day by Achton Friis, 7", no box or certificate, blue mark on back of plate and glaze circles on the back of plate.

The artist of this plate was inspired by the Haraldsted Church situated in the town of the same name, a few miles north of Ringsted in Zealand. This church contains the body of the Danish nobleman Knud Lavard who was murdered in the woods of Haraldsted on 1/6/1121, while on a visit to his relative Cecilia (daughter of King Canute the Holy) and her husband Earl Eric. Legend persists that a holy spring with curative powers gushed forth on the spot where the crime was committed. In 1146 a chapel was built near the spring, and in 1956-57 a modern concrete Lutheran Church was erected here and name for Knud Lavard.
