• Waste bowl

Don’t know how long this has been in family. I suspect since, my Great Great Grandmother.

I remember that MY Grandmother loved having tea parties in the afternoon and using this silver service. She also hosted Soirees, and bridal showers for friends children. I was always at the punch bowl serving, fuming mad that as a Tom Boy, I was required to be in frilly dress.

When we turned our 1870s house at French Quarter into a B&B 30+ years ago, we used this to serve guests and breakfast and afternoon tea. Eventually, I realize that no one cared about what was used for tea, coffee, cream, and didn’t know what a waste bowl as, I stopped the family tradition of using the silver service, fine china, crystal, or linen napkins.

Oh well. A different era! Times change and so did i.
