This medal was sculpted by Anthony Jones and commemorates the 200th anniversary of George Washington's crossing the Delaware River in December 1776 to score a decisive victory over the Hessians in the Battle of Trenton. The front depicts General Washington overseeing the Delaware River crossing and the obverse depicts a scene from the battle of Trenton.This limited edition medal was minted exclusively for members of the Franklin Mint Collectors Society. The medal is contained within the original display case and certificate of authenticity. This medal was struck by the Franklin Mint in 1976 and issued in 1977.This medal is approximately 57 mm (2-1/4 inches) in diameter
