Sold Midcentury Modern Room divider/Privacy Panel
Sold by Retro Wanderlust
$207.00
The church was designed by the architecture firm of McEnary and Krafft and construction was completed at the St. Louis Park, MN site in 1950. The architects are best known for designing the Farmers and Mechanics Savings Bank, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and now houses the Westin Hotel and a popular restaurant named Bank in downtown Minneapolis.
After the sanctuary was built, an education wing and chapel were added. The chapel had strong midcentury modern stylings, including brushed brass pendant ceiling lights and intricate wood doors shielding the speakers for the audio system.
This lot is for one of the speaker doors which was handcrafted by Al Quesenberry, an artisan and member of the congregation. The style is a nod to Frank Lloyd Wright. The speaker door is approximately 5’ tall and 2.75’ wide. It has a fabric backing that can easily be removed. The panel would make an excellent room divider (if secured to a wall, etc) or a curio shelf.
