1897 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate Christmas Meal of the Sparrows by F.A. Hallin, 7", in B&G box that is not original to the plate, indents/scratches on back of plate and a rough spot on the rim potentially from a plate stand, no certificate.
It is an ancient Scandinavian custom that the farmers put aside one sheaf of wheat from the harvest which they tie to a pole at Christmas to be a feast for the birds. The city people also remember their feathered friends, especially at Christmas, by clearing the snow from the window ledge and leaving bread crumbs for them.
